El Toy Ruso, Russkiy Toy, Russian Toy o Pequeño Perro Ruso, fue originalmente criado como perro ratonero y perro de vigilancia.

Son unos perros muy alegres y sociables. Les encanta estar con la gente y otros perros, son muy cariñosos y leales a todos los miembros de la familia, a los que intentarán siempre proteger de cualquier peligro.

Incluso los Toy Ruso de pelo largo son fáciles de peinar y con un baño cada dos o tres semanas mantienen su pelo en perfecto estado. Son silenciosos y sólo ladran si detectan algún peligro. Son genéticamente muy fuertes, ágiles y sanos.
